Structured Problem Solving – April 27th (Class is Full) & June 2nd (Class is Full)

Join Mike Orzen as he presents a structured process (Cause Mapping) for identifying problems and determining the most effective ways to eliminate them. We go beyond the basics of PDCA to explore the key skills needed for lasting success in problem-solving. Finally, we’ll cover the common mistakes people make when attempting structured problem-solving.
 
What you will learn:

  • Effective structured problem solving
  • The psychological aspect of PDCA
  • A tool that enforces logical reasoning for better problem solving
  • Why most people are not really doing PDCA (but they think they are)
  • Common mistakes to avoid

What you will do:

  • Immediately be a more effective problem solver
  • Avoid the pitfalls that prevent effective problem solving
  • Be able to share these techniques with others
  • Make progress on a problem you bring to the class to work on (Guidance will be sent to the participant upon registration.)

Audience: All individuals who are looking to further develop their problem-solving skills.  This is an intermediate-level class.
Date: Tuesday, April 27th (and a new class just opened on Wednesday, June 2nd from 8am-noon)
Time: 8am – noon
Tech Requirements: Computer/laptop.  You will need to be on-screen, so please use a device with a webcam and mic.  Multiple people can join from a conference room with a webcam, but registration is required for each attendee.
Cost: $100 for NWHPEC members ($150 for non-members)

No refunds will be issued for cancellations within one week of the class start date. Payment by check preferred; credit card payments will incur a service fee of 3.5%. Invoices will be sent to your company representative on April 16th.

Facilitator Bio:
Mike has been a lean learner for over 25 years and is considered a pioneer of lean and technology. His passion is lean thinking applied to problem-solving, coaching, and mindfulness. He is co-author of the award-winning books, Lean IT: Enabling and Sustaining Your Lean Enterprise and The Lean IT Field Guide. Often referred to as “the father of Lean IT,” he is recognized internationally as a thought leader in lean, lean IT, organizational transformation, and Leading with Respect. Mike is a recipient of the Shingo Prize for Operational Excellence, a faculty member of the Lean Enterprise Institute, and a fellow of the Shingo Institute. He is also a certified yoga instructor and dedicated meditation practitioner.
