Tour Summary:
Hardwood Industries began their Continuous Improvement journey in 2012. They continue to focus on small, 1-degree shifts every day that improve overall performance. This has led to the creation of documented training modules for critical tasks and functions, and utilizing daily stand-ups to review and respond to KPIs.
In addition to seeing their lumber production process, on this tour you will:
- Learn about their Smart Talent (standard work) program and discuss the benefits and the opportunities for further improvement it has uncovered.
- Gain insights into the data collection methods and the dashboards used to visualize performance metrics. They’ll cover the advantages and disadvantages and how they inform the decision-making processes.
- Learn about daily stand-up meetings where teams review and respond to key performance indicators (KPIs), fostering a culture of continuous feedback, quick problem-solving, and real-time improvements.
- See how their data-driven insights feed into both departmental stand-up meetings and our supervisory/operations meetings where they address critical areas such as Safety, Maintenance, Staffing, SEM, and Production.
